ESPN NFL Draft Analyst Survives Life-Threatening Car Accident Requiring Arm Amputation

ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller revealed on Tuesday that he underwent a life-saving amputation of his left arm following a serious car crash in Missouri.

Miller disclosed the incident occurred Wednesday afternoon near Route 96 in Jasper County, where he was driving a 2023 Bronco when it crossed the center line and collided with a semi-truck. The semi’s driver sustained no injuries, according to reports from KOAM. Miller described being airlifted to Mercy Hospital for immediate care after sustaining “significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs.”

“Last week, I was involved in a serious car accident in Missouri and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital,” Miller stated in a detailed account shared with media outlets. “I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this.”

Miller emphasized that while he faces a “long road ahead” of recovery, his focus remains on regaining strength and returning to ESPN to cover football—including the anticipated 2027 NFL Draft class. He credited fans for their “overwhelming support, prayers and kind messages,” which he said have provided critical comfort during this period.

A father of two and Missouri Southern State University graduate, Miller began working with ESPN in 2021 as an NFL draft contributor before becoming a year-round analyst in 2022. He regularly appears on programs like NFL Live and SportsCenter. Friends confirmed Miller has “a long road to recovery” following the accident, which he described as both life-altering and deeply fortunate to survive.
