Tragic Festival Attack Leaves Child in Critical Condition: Driver Arrested After Chaotic Crashes

A 37-year-old woman drove her minivan through a Labor Day Festival in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, injuring three people including a six-year-old boy, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred at the Kipona Festival, an event celebrating Native American heritage, as vendors were packing up and attendees made final purchases.

Police stated the motive behind the collision remains unclear. Witnesses reported seeing law enforcement pursuing a red minivan before the vehicle struck two adults and a child around 6 p.m. Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams revealed the boy was in critical condition, while the other victims—a wheelchair-bound woman and a city traffic engineering worker—were stable. The male victim had attempted to intervene before being struck, according to the mayor.

The driver, described as a blond woman wearing a T-shirt reading “Mom Son Team,” swerved past barricades and crashed into objects for five blocks during the chaos. She was arrested at the scene. Anna Rose Bakery & Coffee Shop, which witnessed the event, announced temporary closure on Tuesday, citing staff trauma from the incident.
