Brigitte Macron, 72, Files Lawsuit Against Candace Owens Over Alleged Gender Identity Conspiracy

Brigitte Macron, 72, has filed a lawsuit against right-wing podcaster Candace Owens in U.S. federal court to refute a viral conspiracy theory claiming she was born male and impersonated her female identity.

The legal action involves French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, alleging that Owens has been actively promoting the false narrative that Brigitte Macron is male—specifically identifying her as Jean-Michel Trogneux, Brigitte’s brother.

Owens, 36, previously stated on social media platform X that she would “stake [her] entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man.” She has also filed a motion to dismiss the Macrons’ lawsuit.

Tom Clare, the French couple’s lawyer, revealed they are preparing scientific evidence to prove Brigitte’s biological sex. Clare told the BBC that the couple plans to present expert testimony and potentially photographs of Brigitte pregnant and raising her children as part of their case.

“Expert testimony will come out that will be scientific in nature,” Clare stated. “We are prepared to prove she is a woman both generically and specifically.”

The lawsuit follows months of online controversy sparked by Owens’ claims about the first lady’s gender identity.
