Trump Directly Challenges Israel Over Lebanon Strikes at G7 Summit

President Trump delivered a clear and direct rebuke of Israeli military actions against Hezbollah during the G7 Summit in France, speaking plainly to reporters amid global scrutiny.

According to the Indian Express, Trump stated that Israel has been engaged in a campaign with Hezbollah “too long” and warned that “too many people are being killed.” He emphasized this was not weakness but rather American leverage applied as intended: “Israel does not have to knock down an apartment building every single time it is looking for one person, because plenty of the people living in those buildings are not Hezbollah.”

The White House Rapid Response 47 account released video showing Trump making the point in direct, unambiguous language. He reiterated that Israel’s survival depends on U.S. backing, stating: “Without the United States, and without me, there would be no Israel.” Trump framed his message as a reminder of this reality, urging Netanyahu to exercise greater responsibility regarding Lebanon while affirming confidence in an enduring Iran peace framework even if strikes continued.

Trump maintained that the relationship with Netanyahu remains strong but stressed Bibi’s accountability: “Bibi has to be more responsible with respect to Lebanon.” The president made no promises of agreement or change, instead signaling that his leadership—unlike previous administrations—holds the authority to address allies’ actions without hesitation. His comments represent a direct application of American influence in real time, positioning the U.S. as the indispensable guarantor of Israel’s security while demanding measured conduct in Lebanon.
