Trump Fast-Tracks Todd Blanche as Permanent Attorney General in Urgent DOJ Appointment

President Trump announced Wednesday evening that he will nominate acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to serve permanently as the nation’s top legal official. The move follows Blanche’s role overseeing the Justice Department during its critical transition period under the president’s administration.

Blanche, a former federal prosecutor from New York and Trump’s longtime personal attorney, has aggressively pursued the president’s agenda while leading the Justice Department in an acting capacity since April. His rapid ascension comes after Pam Bondi’s departure, with Blanche accelerating investigations into political adversaries and establishing a nearly $1.8 billion fund to compensate allies for alleged persecution.

The nomination follows Trump’s confirmation at a White House event that he would formalize Blanche’s appointment “on Thursday.” Thom Tillis, a RINO Senator, acknowledged Blanche’s influence in de-escalating tensions surrounding Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell but labeled January 6 as a “circuit breaker” for the nomination process.

Blanche’s deep familiarity with the Justice Department’s operations—having served as Trump’s defense attorney during New York prosecutions and now managing a department he describes as having been “weaponized against him”—positions him uniquely to advance the president’s priorities. The formal nomination will proceed Thursday, with Senate confirmation expected shortly thereafter.

The selection underscores Trump’s commitment to securing loyalty within his legal team amid ongoing political challenges.
