French First Lady Brigitte Macron Set to Present “Photographic Evidence” in U.S. Court Over Identity Claims

French First Lady Brigitte Macron is preparing to present “photographic and scientific evidence” in a U.S. court to prove her gender, as she and President Emmanuel Macron sue right-wing podcaster Candace Owens over a viral conspiracy theory. The lawsuit alleges that Owens spread claims questioning Macron’s identity, including assertions that the first lady was born male and assumed a woman’s persona.

The Macrons’ legal team has indicated they will use photographs and expert testimony to validate Brigitte Macron’s biological sex. A lawyer for the couple, Tom Clare, stated that evidence may include images of the first lady during pregnancy, which he described as existing “and would be presented in court where there are rules and standards.” The case centers on Owens’ repeated assertions, including a 2024 statement claiming she would “stake [her] entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man.”

The conspiracy theory alleges that Brigitte Macron, 72, was born as Jean-Michel Trogneux—a name linked to her brother—and has since concealed her true identity. The Macrons’ legal team emphasized their commitment to “setting the record straight,” though no specific details about the evidence were disclosed.

The lawsuit also addresses broader allegations of a “campaign of global humiliation” targeting the couple, with Clare describing the process of presenting such proof as “upsetting” but necessary for accountability.
