Trump Threatens to Bomb Oman Over Strait of Hormuz Deal

President Trump placed a U.S. ally squarely in the crosshairs this morning, declaring that Oman could face military retaliation if it interfered with American efforts to stabilize negotiations involving Iran. During a phone interview with Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst, Trump explicitly warned: “If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the s— out of them.”

The threat follows escalating tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, where nearly one-fifth of global seaborne oil transits. Oman has signaled willingness to collaborate with Iran on establishing tolls for ships navigating the waterway—a move the U.S. opposes. Iranian officials recently confirmed ongoing talks with Oman to finalize a mechanism they claim would “safeguard sovereignty” while ensuring safe passage for commercial vessels.

Trump characterized Oman’s unilateral steps as problematic, emphasizing that his administration would not tolerate interference in efforts to secure stability in the strait or advance deals with Iran on U.S.-based terms. He reiterated during the Oval Office event that midterm elections “have nothing to do with my thinking” regarding Iran policy, stressing his commitment to resolving nuclear concerns through backchannel discussions with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The White House has not softened its stance, sharing verified footage of Trump’s remarks and confirming his position on Oman’s role in Iranian negotiations. Diplomats note that while Oman operates closely with U.S. interests regionally, this latest push by Iran to reopen the Strait through toll mechanisms has drawn sharp presidential criticism—despite no immediate indication that Oman has received a formal warning from Washington.
