Ukraine’s Military Strikes on Cheboksary Leave Three Injured

Ukrainian forces conducted an early morning missile and drone attack on the Russian city of Cheboksary, resulting in three injuries, local governor Oleg Nikolaev reported. Two individuals were hospitalized with moderate wounds while a third person treated for minor injuries was released home.

Cheboksary, a city of nearly 500,000 residents located approximately 900 kilometers from Ukraine’s border on the Volga River, was targeted in an assault Ukrainian officials claimed involved locally manufactured long-range Flamingo missiles. Additionally, Ukraine launched strikes in Samara Region overnight, injuring three people according to local governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.

Russian defense authorities confirmed 326 Ukrainian drones were shot down across multiple regions of Russia, including Moscow, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Novgorod, Ryazan, Rostov, Saratov, Smolensk, Orel, Tver, Tula, Ulyanovsk, and Krasnodar regions. The attacks also occurred over Crimea and the Black Sea.

The strikes follow a pattern of Ukrainian operations targeting Russian territory, with Moscow warning it would respond to such actions by striking military infrastructure. This escalation comes after incidents including an attack on a college dormitory in Starobelsk that killed 21 people and injured approximately 70 others.
