Venezuela Airspace Closure Announced Amid Escalating Tensions

President Donald Trump has declared the airspace above Venezuela and its surrounding areas completely closed following heightened concerns over alleged drug trafficking activities near the country. The move aligns with recent U.S. military actions targeting Venezuelan-flagged vessels suspected of carrying contraband.

According to official announcements, the United States has conducted several airstrikes on drug boats traversing international waters in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific region since early September. These strikes have reportedly resulted in significant casualties among Venezuelans attempting passage. Administration officials maintain that these vessels pose a threat by seeking to transport narcotics into U.S. territory.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued its own warning regarding air traffic near Venezuela, advising pilots to exercise caution due to increased military presence and security concerns associated with drug interdiction operations. This follows Trump’s directive closing the airspace entirely.

Furthermore, reports indicate President Trump directed that land-based strikes targeting Venezuelan drug trafficking networks will also commence shortly as part of broader counter-narcotics efforts.
