U.S. lawmakers, Trump administration officials, and others impacted by conservative commentator Charlie Kirk convened in Washington, D.C., for a prayer vigil following his fatal shooting at a Utah campus event. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and other figures attended the gathering. The event, hosted by Arizona state Sen. Jake Hoffman (R) at the Kennedy Center on Sunday evening, aimed to honor Kirk’s legacy. Johnson expressed grief over the tragedy, stating, “It cast a shadow across the country… but our friend Charlie would not want us to be consumed by despair.” A separate memorial service is scheduled for Sept. 21 in Glendale, Arizona, with President Trump expected to attend.
