On Wednesday, President Trump addressed reporters at a White House press conference when he spotted Fox News senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich in the press gallery.
During the exchange, Trump turned to the reporter and her fiancé, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), remarking that “Her husband votes against me all the time.” He added, “I don’t know what’s with him. You better ask him what’s with him.”
The president continued: “He likes voting against Trump. You know what happens with that? It doesn’t work out well.”
Trump’s remarks followed his recent efforts to unseat Republican lawmakers who opposed his redistricting initiatives, including victories over Indiana state senators and Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.).
In contrast, Fitzpatrick, a member of the House representing a district that Kamala Harris carried in 2024, secured renomination without facing primary challenges this year.
Following Trump’s comments, Rep. Fitzpatrick vowed to undermine the president’s proposed $1.8 billion agreement with the Department of Justice.
