President Donald Trump has announced a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against the New York Times, accusing the publication of spreading false information about him and his administration. The legal action was revealed on Truth Social, where Trump described the newspaper as one of the “worst and most degenerate” in U.S. history.
Trump claimed the NYT has operated as a “virtual ‘mouthpiece’ for the Radical Left Democrat Party,” citing its endorsement of Kamala Harris as an unprecedented move. He alleged the outlet has engaged in a decades-long campaign to defame him, his family, his business ventures, and the America First Movement. The lawsuit, filed in Florida, follows previous legal actions against other media entities.
The decision comes after Trump threatened to sue the NYT last week over its reporting on his ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. His statement referenced a “sexually suggestive note and drawing” linked to Epstein, which the publication had covered. Trump emphasized that the lawsuit aims to hold the NYT accountable for what he called “malicious defamation.”
