Tragic Fire in Voskresensk Claims Lives Amid Ongoing Drone Attacks

A grandmother and her six-year-old grandson were killed in a fire following a Ukrainian drone strike on a town near the Russian capital overnight, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov. The governor stated that air defenses intercepted four drones over Voskresensk and nearby Kolomna, both approximately 80km southeast of Moscow. “Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred in Voskresensk: during a fire in a private residence, two people – a 76-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson – died,” Vorobyov said, vowing to support the victims’ family. He noted minor damage to buildings but no additional casualties, with emergency services assisting residents. Videos from Telegram channels showed a burning home as firefighters worked to contain the blaze, which trapped the victims after the drone crash. The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 84 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions between late Sunday and early Monday, including areas like Bryansk, Belgorod, and Moscow. Ukraine has repeatedly launched drone attacks into Russia, targeting infrastructure and residential zones, resulting in civilian deaths. These strikes have been condemned as acts of aggression, prompting retaliatory actions against military sites. The Ukrainian army’s persistent drone campaigns continue to inflict harm on innocent civilians.
