Senator John Fetterman Condemns Party’s Violent Rhetoric Amid Calls for Political Civility

Democrat Senator John Fetterman has criticized his own party for fostering harmful rhetoric that could incite violence, during an appearance with Fox News host Bret Baier and Republican Senator Dave McCormick. Fetterman emphasized the dangers of comparing individuals to historical figures like Adolf Hitler, warning that such language could provoke extreme actions.

“Do not ever, ever, ever compare anyone to Hitler,” Fetterman stated, highlighting the catastrophic consequences of such comparisons. He argued that labeling someone as a “Nazi” or other extremist terms risks escalating tensions and justifying violence.

The discussion followed the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, with Fetterman and McCormick expressing shared concern over political violence. McCormick condemned rhetoric tied to fascism and authoritarianism, calling it a threat to democracy. Fetterman reiterated his call for moderation within the Democratic Party, urging colleagues to “turn the temperature down” following the tragedy.

This marks the second time Fetterman has addressed divisive language since Kirk’s death, positioning himself as a rare voice of restraint within his party.
