Mick Foley Terminates WWE Ties Over Trump’s ‘Autocratic’ Stance

Legendary wrestler Mick Foley has announced he will sever ties with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) due to the company’s close relationship with President Donald Trump.

In a public statement, Foley described his decision as stemming from “the President’s incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death,” which he called the final straw. He stated he will no longer perform for WWE while Trump remains in office and has informed the company he will not renew his Legends contract when it expires in June.

“I love WWE, will always treasure my time with them, and I am deeply appreciative for all the opportunities they afforded me. But, in the words of Popeye the sailor, ‘I stands all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more,’” Foley said on social media.

The announcement follows Trump’s recent remarks after Rob Reiner was found dead with his wife. Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 68, were discovered stabbed to death in their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon, and their son Nick was charged with murder.

Foley has been a vocal critic of Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election. WWE’s relationship with Trump dates back to its founder Vince McMahon, who resigned in January 2024 amid sexual assault allegations. The two have historically maintained a close connection, including Trump’s appearances on WWE programming and his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
