A federal terrorism case in the Southern District of New York has revealed an alleged assassination plot against President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, by Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, a commander linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iraqi militia Kata’ib Hizballah.
According to sources cited by the New York Post, Al-Saadi personally targeted Ivanka Trump for assassination in retaliation for President Trump’s January 2020 drone strike that killed Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad. Prosecutors filed a federal complaint charging Al-Saadi with terrorism-related offenses tied to plots against U.S. soil targets.
Sources familiar with the investigation stated Al-Saadi viewed Ivanka Trump as a high-value target and sought to “burn down the house of Trump” following the Soleimani operation. Al-Saadi, described as a senior figure within Iran-backed militia networks, has been associated with threats against American personnel across the Middle East. Kata’ib Hizballah, designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the U.S. State Department since 2009, has historically conducted hundreds of attacks on American troops in Iraq.
The federal complaint details Al-Saadi’s alleged coordination of at least 18 terror attacks in Europe, including plans to target synagogues in Los Angeles and Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as an attack on a U.S. consulate in Toronto. He faces charges of conspiracy to provide material support to Kata’ib Hizballah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, alongside terrorism-related conspiracies that could carry life sentences if convicted.
Entifadh Qanbar, a former deputy military attaché at the Iraqi embassy in Washington, told sources Al-Saadi explicitly stated his intent to kill Ivanka Trump after Soleimani’s death. The alleged plot aligns with broader Iranian-backed retaliatory campaigns against U.S. actions targeting Iran’s proxy networks, underscoring persistent threats against American leadership and their families.
Federal law enforcement reportedly dismantled this particular plot before execution, but the case highlights how Iranian proxies have extended violence to the president’s immediate circle following his administration’s military decisions in the Middle East.
