The Department of Homeland Security has released new images depicting the shooting scene at a Dallas ICE facility, where a man killed two detainees and injured another. The shooter, identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, opened fire from a nearby building before taking his own life.
Bullet holes are visible in an office window and a glass-encased American flag at the site. Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary in the Department of Homeland Security, emphasized the emotional toll on law enforcement: “Like everyone else, our ICE law enforcement officers just want to go home to their families at night. They are fathers and mothers. Sons, and daughters, brothers and sisters.”
The DHS confirmed the gunman also targeted an unmarked van near the facility. Evidence from the scene included rifle-caliber ammunition engraved with an “anti-ICE” message. Jahn, reportedly living in Durant, Oklahoma, was found dead on a nearby rooftop with a rifle. A surviving detainee remained hospitalized in critical condition.
Dallas Police Chief David Comeaux stated investigators are examining Jahn’s background and movements prior to the incident. No further details about the motive or broader implications were provided.
