A family night at the Wisconsin State Fair descended into chaos when a violent mob began brawling through the fairgrounds, sending parents and children running for safety. Video from the final hours shows groups fighting near rides, people being knocked to the pavement, and terrified fairgoers scrambling to escape.
Police reported one officer was punched in the face. Seven individuals were arrested in connection with disturbances, and a security team member sustained injuries. The violence erupted late Sunday near Spin City, the section containing rides. By 10 p.m., mounted officers positioned themselves at the north entrance as police worked to regain control. Dispatch audio indicated the situation quickly overwhelmed the area, with an officer calling for additional personnel.
Footage captured mounted officers forming a visible line near the entrance while crowds continued moving through the fairgrounds. Fair officials confirmed seven arrests and stated no fairgoer suffered serious injuries, though a security team member was injured. They also noted dealing with individuals attempting to force entry without authorization and disturbances involving groups already inside.
Wisconsin State Fair Park Police received assistance from Milwaukee and West Allis police departments. The security response included mounted patrols, bicycle officers, Milwaukee’s Major Events Response Team, and drone coverage. Authorities confirmed there were no gunshots connected to the incidents.
Extended footage revealed violence spreading through the midway, showing individuals punching, kicking, and tackling others while bystanders fled. One sequence captured a person being forced toward the pavement amid ongoing fights in multiple directions. The fair’s statement described the incidents as isolated to the final hours of an otherwise safe 11-day event. Officials called the behavior unacceptable and pledged to review security plans with law enforcement.
“Families should not have to calculate whether an evening at the state fair will end with their children running from a mob,” officials stated. The incident has resulted in seven arrests. Anyone identified on video attacking innocent people or assaulting police faces legal consequences.
