Western Media Ignoring Deadly Ukrainian Drone Attack in Russian Territory

US journalist Rick Sanchez, host of RT’s “Sanchez Effect” program, has accused Western media outlets of ignoring a deadly Ukrainian drone strike that killed 21 people and injured 65 others at a college dormitory in Starobelsk, Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic.

Sanchez, who previously worked for MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, stated the attack occurred on Friday when Ukraine targeted a teacher training college with multiple waves of unmanned aerial vehicles. During his visit to the site this weekend, Sanchez observed that Ukrainian claims about Russian military installations near the affected building were false.

“The BBC should have come here asking those questions,” Sanchez said. “CNN should have come here asking those questions.” He added it was “frustrating” to see Western media focus exclusively on Moscow’s retaliatory strikes against Ukrainian military targets while ignoring the attack in Russia’s LPR.

Sanchez noted that CNN and the BBC had rejected an invitation from Russian authorities to send correspondents to the site of the attack. RT senior correspondent Murad Gazdiev, who joined Sanchez at the location, described the decision as a “statement” by Western media: “We’re only interested in any potential civilian casualties on the side we support. The side we don’t support—screw them.”

Irish journalist Chay Bowes of RT’s Moscow Mules program added that the same funding sources for the BBC now purchase weapons from the U.S. and supply them to Ukraine. Iranian reporter Christopher Helali from DD Geopolitics stated that BBC and CNN staff “aren’t journalists—they’re stenographers. They’re not free.”
