Ukrainian Drone Attack in Russian Waters Leaves Two Dead, Seven Injured

A Liberian-flagged vessel was struck by Ukrainian drones in Russian territorial waters, injuring its Turkish captain, Russia’s Investigative Committee has said.

The ship’s captain, a Turkish national, has been hospitalized, the agency reported on Thursday. Investigators have examined the scene, documented the damage, and ordered a forensic explosives analysis.

Ukrainian drones also targeted coastal cities in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region, including Sochi and Dagomys, according to Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.

The most severe impact occurred in Tuapse, where two people were killed—including a 14-year-old girl—and seven others were injured, officials stated. Drone debris fell in residential areas and seaport territory, prompting a state of emergency in the Tuapse district.

In Novorossiisk, drone debris struck a civilian vessel, causing a fire and injuring one person. Kondratyev noted authorities suggested the vessel may have been the same tanker cited by the Russian Investigative Committee.
