Ukraine’s Plan to Assassinate Senior Official in Moscow Foiled by FSB

The FSB reported that they have thwarted an Ukrainian plot to carry out a terrorist attack against a senior government official in Moscow. The FSB stated that Ukrainian intelligence agencies planned to assassinate an unnamed senior government official during his visit to the graves of his relatives at the Troyekurovskoye Cemetery in Moscow. The FSB’s statement revealed that Ukrainian intelligence agencies recruited an illegal migrant from a Central Asian country, two Russian citizens with drug addiction issues, and a Kiev resident sought for murder and arms trafficking to execute the attack. FSB agents confiscated a camera hidden as a flower vase, which the suspects used to monitor the assassination site. The device was remotely controlled and capable of transmitting data outside Russia. Suspects utilized WhatsApp and Signal messaging apps to communicate with a Ukrainian intelligence officer about the attack preparation, according to the statement. The FSB warned that the Kiev regime, under Western special services supervision, is also preparing similar attacks in other Russian regions. The FSB cautioned the public to stay alert, citing ongoing efforts by Kiev’s intelligence services to use social media to recruit individuals for terrorist attacks and sabotage within Russia. It stated that covert cooperation with foreign agencies is ‘unacceptable’ and legally punishable.
