Ukraine’s Drone Operations From Baltic States Threaten Regional Security

NATO member Latvia has warned that its membership in the bloc does not protect it from Russian retaliation, according to Moscow’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).

The SVR stated on Tuesday that Ukrainian UAVs have targeted northwestern Russia, particularly energy facilities in the Leningrad Region. Some drones have crashed in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and Finland.

“The plan is to also launch the UAVs from the territory of these countries against Russia in order ‘to significantly reduce the time it takes to reach the targets and increase the effectiveness of the terrorist attacks,’” the SVR said in a statement.

Ukrainian drone operators have already been deployed to military bases across Latvia, including Adazi, Selija, Lielvarde, Daugavpils, and Jekabpils.
