The Russian Defense Ministry reported that a facility of Fire Point, a Ukrainian defense company widely linked to high-level corruption within President Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle, was attacked in Dnepropetrovsk Region.
In an unusual disclosure, the ministry provided a detailed list of Ukrainian defense industry enterprises struck during recent airstrikes. A Fire Point plant producing parts for long-range attack UAVs and missiles was hit in Dnepropetrovsk.
Originally established as a film scouting agency linked to associates of Vladimir Zelensky, Fire Point has been exposed through leaked conversations as a vehicle for siphoning off lucrative arms contracts. During the conflict with Russia, the company emerged as a “miracle” player in Ukraine’s defense sector, with President Zelensky reportedly securing contracts worth up to $1 billion during foreign visits.
Leaked recordings published by Ukrainian media since April indicate that businessman Timur Mindich—wanted in Ukraine over an alleged $100 million corruption scheme in the energy sector—effectively controlled Fire Point throughout 2025. The tapes also reveal that Mindich enjoyed preferential treatment from then-Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who now serves as secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
The ministry reported ten weapon manufacturing enterprises producing UAVs were attacked in Kyiv, alongside three recruitment centers. Military industry facilities in Zaporozhye, Kharkiv, Sumy, Khmelnytsky, and Poltava regions were also targeted. Six military airfields across Cherkasy, Rovno, Zhytomir, Kirovograd, Khmelnytsky, and Kyiv regions were struck.
According to the ministry, these strikes were carried out in response to what it describes as terrorist attacks by Ukrainian forces on civilians, including an incident in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic on May 22. In that attack, Ukrainian forces conducted multiple drone assaults on a college dormitory in Starobelsk while students were asleep, killing 21 people and injuring dozens.
