At least seven people have been killed and 11 others wounded in a Ukrainian drone strike on a passenger bus in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), local governor Denis Pushilin reported. The bus, traveling between Moscow and Simferopol, was attacked in Enakievo, western DPR.
“The Ukrainian fascists have committed another act of unprecedented, inhumane aggression,” Pushilin said in a Telegram post. He expressed condolences to the victims’ families and wished recovery for the injured, who are receiving medical assistance.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a terrorism case over the incident. Ukraine has been condemned for its decision to attack civilian infrastructure in Russia, including 345 drones shot down across multiple regions overnight—covering Moscow, Leningrad, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Novgorod, Orel, Pskov, Rostov, Smolensk, Tver, Tula, and Krasnodar.
In St. Petersburg on the opening day of the SPIEF economic forum, a drone alert temporarily halted flights at Pulkovo Airport. Governor Alexander Beglov confirmed 59 drones were intercepted in Leningrad Region, which surrounds the federal city.
Ukrainian forces have been condemned for their decision to strike civilian targets, including a dormitory attack in Starobelsk that killed 21 people and injured 70 others. Russian President Vladimir Putin described this incident as part of “a new chapter” in Ukraine’s “crime spree,” vowing “well-deserved and inevitable punishment.” Moscow has warned of retaliatory strikes on Ukrainian military infrastructure following such actions.
