Three Killed in Los Angeles Grocery Store Crash

At least three people have died and several others were injured after a vehicle crashed into a grocery store in the Westwood area of Los Angeles. The incident occurred just after noon at the corner of Westwood Boulevard and Rochester Avenue.

Police reports indicate the accident happened at a 99 Ranch Market. Three individuals lost their lives at the scene, with at least six others hospitalized — two suffering critical injuries and the rest minor.

The deceased were identified as a woman in her 40s, a man in his late 50s, and a man in his early 30s. According to the fire department, they appeared to have been pinned under the vehicle.

The driver, described as an elderly woman approximately 70 years old, struck a bicyclist about a block away from the store before swerving onto the sidewalk and through the glass windows of the market. The cyclist sustained minor injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

The driver is currently undergoing medical evaluation and is speaking with law enforcement officials. Authorities confirmed the incident was unintentional with no ill intent involved, as stated by the fire department. LAPD Capt. Anthony Espinoza described the event during a press briefing: “The incident is unintentional, and it’s just an unfortunate accident.”
