Supreme Court Rules 6-3 in Favor of Texas Republicans on District Maps

The U.S. Supreme Court has issued an emergency ruling upholding the redrawn congressional districting maps for Texas.

In response to an application granted by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the conservative-majority court overturned a lower court decision that had blocked the implementation of the new maps. The challenged map was drawn with explicit consideration of racial factors according to previous rulings, however, today’s unsigned order determined these concerns were unfounded.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced his office supports the ruling and welcomed it as a significant victory for conservative voices in Texas politics.

The decision allows the implementation of this new map designed by Republican state legislators.
