Federal prosecutors have charged Dean DelleChiaie, 35, a federal employee with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), with allegedly threatening to assassinate President Trump. The criminal complaint was filed on Friday, May 1, 2026, by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire.
According to authorities, DelleChiaie was arrested and appeared before federal court on May 1, 2026. The investigation reveals he conducted multiple internet searches on his government work computer in late January, including methods to obtain firearms within federal facilities, historical assassination attempts against the President, public support statistics for the President’s death, and the phrase “I am going to kill Donald John Trump.”
During a February interview with U.S. Secret Service agents, DelleChiaie admitted to conducting these searches on his work device and owning three firearms, including a handgun stored in a secure home safe. On April 21, 2026, he allegedly sent an email from his personal account to the White House’s public-facing address with the subject line “Contact the President.” The message read: “I, Dean DelleChiaie, am going neutralize/kill you – Donald John Trump – because you decided to kill kids – and say that it was War – when in reality – it is terrorism. God knows your actions and where you belong.”
If convicted, DelleChiaie faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The FAA’s Information Technology department reported the “concerning searches” to Secret Service after he requested deletion of his search history. On February 3, agents and Nashua Police visited DelleChiaie’s apartment where he confessed to the searches and expressed remorse.
An affidavit states DelleChiaie described becoming “upset with the current administration” over issues including the election, presidential pardons, and the “Epstein files”—Department of Justice documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. During the interview, a whiteboard in his apartment contained notes such as: “Calm down more,” “1-month no arrest by police,” “Go DC to office if they do not action,” and “Say arrest me ‘I am going to murder Donald John Trump – per defense of oath.’”
DelleChiaie admitted to using ketamine therapy for depression, alcohol to “black out,” daily cannabis use, and occasional mushroom consumption. He stated the searches were part of a mental health cycle but acknowledged they were “crazy” to conduct on his work computer.
