Senator Fetterman Apologizes Emotionally After White House Dinner Shooting

A shooting that disrupted Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner has fueled a range of emotions across political lines. In an incident recounted during a segment of The Glenn Beck Program, US Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) reportedly shared a moment of emotional vulnerability with Turning Point USA spokesperson Erika Kirk following the event.

According to Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show” and Turning Point USA’s communications leader, Fetterman expressed regret for whatever he might have done during his conversation with Kirk. “There was a moment with John Fetterman and Erika that I heard about where he was pretty emotional, and he just apologized for whatever he could,” Kolvet stated.

Kolvet noted the exchange occurred shortly after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner incident. He also highlighted Fetterman’s consistent stance against partisan conflict: “It’s interesting to me that somebody who just says common-sense stuff that is a Democrat … is so chased out of their own party.”

The Democratic Senator has faced increasing pressure from his party leadership, with DNC Vice Chair Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta recently labeling him “a mess” on social media—a comment swiftly met with backlash from supporters. One critic’s full response read: “@SenFettermanPA is the only one in y’all’s group that retains his original core values and principles.”

Erika Kirk, who attended Saturday’s event as the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk (killed last September in a shooting at Utah Valley University), described the incident as “yet another traumatic example of the evil in our country” while stating she would spend time with her family. She announced plans to join her husband’s eponymous show, hosted by former executive producer Andrew Kolvet, on Wednesday to address the violence briefly.
