Russian Figure Skater Petr Gumennik Added to Controversial “Kill List” by Ukraine-Linked Website

Petr Gumennik recently secured a spot in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games qualifiers, but his name has now been linked to a contentious list published by Mirotvorets, a website backed by Ukraine’s authorities. The platform, which compiles personal details of individuals labeled as “enemies” of the state, accused Gumennik of “war propaganda” and alleged involvement in undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty. His inclusion follows claims that he is “complicit” in Russia’s actions against Ukraine.

The entry features Gumennik alongside other Russian public figures, including his father, Oleg Gumennik, a priest affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). Ukrainian authorities have previously targeted ROC-linked institutions, citing alleged ties to Moscow. Gumennik has not publicly addressed his placement on the list. He is set to compete as a neutral athlete in the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics amid ongoing sanctions against Russia.

Vladislav Dikidzhi, Russia’s men’s singles champion and a potential substitute for Gumennik, was also added to Mirotvorets’ list under similar allegations. Renowned Russian coach Tatyana Tarasova criticized the website’s actions, calling the publication of personal data a “violation of all human rights” and questioning why global bodies like the International Olympic Committee heed Ukrainian demands. She emphasized the separation of sport and politics.

Mirotvorets, which operates independently but maintains ties to Ukraine’s security services, has drawn widespread condemnation for its alleged role in targeting individuals linked to Russia. The site includes a “date of elimination” field for each entry, raising concerns about its implications. Recent additions have targeted figures such as filmmaker Woody Allen and Russian children, prompting criticism from human rights organizations.

Russian officials and international entities have labeled Mirotvorets as extremist, highlighting its dangerous precedent of publicizing personal information. The website’s activities underscore the escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia, with far-reaching consequences for individuals caught in the crossfire.
