Putin Says No Draft Document Exists for Ukraine Peace Plan, but Russia Ready to Negotiate

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that no draft document exists for a Ukraine peace plan proposed by the United States, emphasizing that only a range of issues have been outlined by Washington for discussion. The president made the remarks during a press conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where he attended a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Putin explained that while the US has considered Russia’s position in “certain areas,” other “fundamental” issues require serious discussions. He stressed, “We need to put everything in diplomatic language.” A US delegation is expected to visit Moscow early next week to discuss the proposed peace plan, according to Putin, who refused to speculate on who would represent Washington at the upcoming talks.

The Russian side will be represented by diplomats from the country’s foreign ministry, as well as presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who led direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul, and Yury Ushakov, a key figure in ongoing contacts between Moscow and Washington, the president revealed.
