On Saturday, a senior citizen apartment complex in Ohio experienced an explosion, leaving several people hospitalized. Witness statements described the event as a powerful blast. The cause of the explosion remains unconfirmed. A previous incident involving a gas line cut in Youngstown led to an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, which concluded it was an accident.
Resident Cindy Duke described the explosion as “felt like a bomb.” Another resident, Don Lampley, who has no legs, said he was watching the Ohio State game with a friend when “there was a big, loud blast, then BOOM!” The Austintown Township Police Department and Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to inquiries. The explosion comes a year after a Chase Bank exploded in Youngstown, Ohio. The National Transportation Safety Board conducted an investigation, concluding it was an accident.
