North Carolina Republicans Secure Congressional Map Victory

A panel of federal judges today rejected challenges to North Carolina’s newly drawn congressional map, clearing the way for its use in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.

The controversial legislative districts were initially enacted by GOP lawmakers last year and first deployed during this year’s elections. The ruling effectively prevents challengers from modifying the map before the midterms unless they file an appeal.

State Republican leaders expressed satisfaction with the panel’s decision, stating it aligned with voter preferences demonstrated in recent election cycles.

Opponents of the redistricting argued that the panels’ rulings failed to uphold constitutional principles or adequately consider previous election results.
