Following his defeat in the bid to become Minnesota’s next governor, MyPillow founder Mike Lindell has vowed a statewide ballot recount, citing multiple irregularities he claims were identified by his team during election night.
In a statement Wednesday, Lindell detailed several alleged discrepancies, including vote totals that reportedly moved backward during reporting, unusual synchronized vote counts across all seven Republican candidates and counties reporting more votes than were cast. He characterized these as the basis for the audit.
The recount process will involve “designated observers stationed throughout the hand-counting process,” Lindell stated.
“Even if this recount and audit does not overturn my election for governor of Minnesota,” he added, “I believe this is the gateway to getting rid of these electronic voting machines.”
Lindell emphasized that his effort is grounded in a right granted by Minnesota law, which allows candidates to request a full hand count of ballots outside the narrow margin that triggers state-funded recounts.
“One of the few good election laws Minnesota does have is that as a candidate, I have the right to completely audit and hand count every ballot in the state,” he said, adding that he intends to use that right “to the full extent of the law.”
