President Donald Trump has announced sweeping economic measures targeting nations that assist Iran, declaring an unprecedented assault designed to cripple Tehran’s economy and isolate it globally.
In a recent online post, the president stated that no nation has provided Iran with a greater opportunity to negotiate a deal than himself. He condemned the Islamic Republic for failing to capitalize on this chance, then declared the administration would launch “the MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY.”
The measures include severe economic consequences for any country that facilitates financial transactions, logistical support, or other lifelines to Iran—specifically targeting oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, and front companies. Trump described this as “Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale,” aiming to force Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The president emphasized that these actions would lead to the collapse of Iran’s military infrastructure, currency, and economic stability, stating: “Their navy is gone, their air force is destroyed, its military factories are now rubble, their currency is worthless, and their country is hanging by a thread.”
Trump also declared an “ECONOMIC D-DAY” for international allies to join the United States in isolating Iran. He concluded with the assertion that “IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.”
The White House has noted that economic blocs such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have become critical pathways for Iran’s outreach to countries under U.S. economic pressure. Behnam Ben Taleblu, senior director of the Iran Program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, stated that Tehran is increasingly turning to nations like Russia and China to survive amid intensifying U.S. military and economic measures.
