A 57-year-old father was fatally shot in Massachusetts after a confrontation with Snehal Srivastava, a 26-year-old man who identifies as transgender and uses the name “Sasha.” The incident occurred on Thursday when Srivastava allegedly confronted Kevin Doherty, who had just dropped off his six-year-old son at school. According to investigators, the two men were involved in an argument after Srivastava was seen spray-painting graffiti on a bridge. Doherty reportedly took photos of the scene before the altercation escalated into violence.
Srivastava, a pro-Palestinian Indian national with a documented history of criminal activity, is accused of shooting Doherty multiple times. Court documents reveal Srivastava had prior arrests for assaulting a police officer in 2021, evading an outstanding warrant in 2023, and attempting to run over a man at a movie theater. Neighbors had previously reported threats against him, but authorities reportedly failed to detain him.
Doherty was found with multiple gunshot wounds after the incident and later died at a hospital. Police recovered two photos from his phone showing Srivastava spray-painting and the scooter Doherty was carrying. Srivastava was arraigned in Westboro District Court on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and unlawful gun possession, and was ordered held without bail.
Srivastava’s residence was previously marked with pro-Palestinian and Black Lives Matter graffiti, according to reports. A victim of his earlier machete attack has criticized local officials for releasing him despite his history of violence.
