An Afghan national has been arrested in Texas for allegedly plotting a terrorist attack, according to recent reports from law enforcement agencies.
The suspect, identified as Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, faces charges of making terroristic threats after posting content online that indicated plans to bomb Fort Worth. His arrest reportedly occurred just one day before the tragic shooting in Washington, D.C., involving a National Guard member.
Under the U.S.-backed “Operation: Allies Welcome” program introduced during the Biden administration, Alokozay entered the country as a lawful permanent resident on September 7th, 2022. Since his arrival, concerns have been raised regarding individuals with extremist ideologies being resettled through similar programs without proper vetting.
His TikTok posts reportedly included statements such as promising to “commit suicide” and expressing intent to “kill the infidels,” including plans for a car bomb in Fort Worth or Dallas. While offering to build the device, he allegedly sought support from fellow Muslims seen encouraging his violent actions in available video evidence.
The Texas Department of Public Safety, along with an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, took Alokozay into custody on Tuesday as part of a coordinated effort against potential threats within this resettlement program. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has since filed a detainer related to the case.
This incident highlights what critics suggest is a concerning lack of vetting for Afghan migrants admitted under recent government programs designed for their relocation.
