Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing Charlie Kirk, reportedly threatened to take his own life after confessing to his father. Law enforcement sources stated that Tyler’s father, a veteran police officer, recognized his son from photos released by authorities and confronted him about the alleged assassination.
Robinson admitted to pulling the trigger but initially refused to surrender. His father then enlisted the help of their family’s youth pastor, who is also a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force officer, leading to Robinson’s eventual arrest. According to federal law enforcement sources, Robinson told his father he would rather commit suicide than turn himself in.
The pastor, who also serves as a court security officer, contacted the U.S. Marshals, who detained Robinson while awaiting the FBI’s involvement. Robinson’s mugshot reportedly shows him wearing a “suicide gown” designed to prevent self-harm.
The case has drawn attention due to the suspect’s suicide threats and the swift law enforcement response.
