The FBI and Utah law enforcement officials held a press briefing regarding the ongoing manhunt for the suspect in the assassination of Charlie Kirk. During the update, new footage was disclosed showing the individual fleeing across a rooftop before leaping off to evade capture.
Authorities revealed that the shooter left critical evidence at the scene, including a palm print and footprints. Beau Mason of the Utah Department of Public Safety stated, “There are smudges we’re working to collect DNA from. A shoe imprint indicates the suspect wore Converse tennis shoes. His black t-shirt, black pants, and white soles on the sneakers are notable details.”
Utah Governor Spencer Cox announced plans to pursue the death penalty against the perpetrator once apprehended. “We pray for healing and accountability in this dark time,” Cox said. The case has been labeled a targeted political assassination by investigators, with both the FBI and Utah Department of Public Safety leading the inquiry. The suspect remains at large.
