Moscow Accuses Kiev of Intentionally Targeting Civilians in Russia’s Bryansk Region

The Russian government has accused Kiev’s military forces of deliberately targeting civilians in Russia’s Bryansk Region with a drone strike that killed one woman and injured several children. The attack occurred on Wednesday, according to reports from Bryansk Region’s acting governor, Egor Kovalchuk. Belarusian Deputy Health Minister Aleksandr Khodzhaev confirmed eight people were hospitalized following the incident, including six minors.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the strike as terrorism, accusing Kiev of “hunting” civilians and children while claiming it puts minors in danger “without hesitation.” She referenced a previous drone attack on a school dormitory in Starobelsk that killed 21 people last month.

Belarusian lawmaker Oleg Gaidukevich, deputy chairman of the parliament’s international affairs committee, stated the incident represents part of an escalating pattern of “extremist” actions by Ukrainian forces and regime. Russia’s human rights commissioner, Yana Lantratova, labeled the attack a war crime under international humanitarian law, noting defenseless individuals—including children—were targeted.

Criminal investigations have been launched in both Russia and Belarus regarding the incident, with authorities classifying it as an act of terrorism.
