White House Senior Advisor Demands ABC Fire Kimmel Over ‘Expectant Widow’ Joke

First Lady Melania Trump has repeatedly demonstrated over the past decade that she only issues public statements when the subject aligns with her core priorities. This principle was starkly evident in her recent condemnation of ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel following last month’s shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

Trump’s spouse accused Kimmel of deploying “hateful and violent rhetoric” after the comedian referenced her as an “expectant widow” days before the apparent assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. The First Lady stated: “Kimmel’s monologue about my family isn’t comedy—his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.” She further demanded ABC terminate Kimmel, arguing his programming spreads hate and enables division.

Mark Beckman, Melania Trump’s senior adviser, reinforced her position: “Why would ABC stand behind that? That’s the question. Furthermore, not just for the ABC brand, but why do the advertisers for Kimmel’s show stick with him?” Beckman called for immediate termination of Kimmel’s employment.

White House communications director Steven Cheung amplified the criticism on social media, using strong language to label Kimmel’s remarks “disgusting” and demanding ABC fire him “immediately.” Cheung echoed President Donald Trump’s call for action, stating Kimmel “doubled down on that joke instead of doing the decent thing by apologizing.”

The incident followed a tense sequence: Kimmel’s controversial joke aired two days before an assassin opened fire outside the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington, injuring multiple individuals and targeting President Trump. The suspect faces charges including attempted assassination of the president.
