Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of Russia’s Belgorod Region reported two civilian deaths and four injuries Sunday following Ukrainian drone strikes across the region.
A kamikaze drone struck a vehicle carrying a married couple and their son in the village of Nechyaevka, according to the governor. The father and son were killed at the scene; the mother was hospitalized.
In Gubkin, a teenage girl and a young man sustained injuries when a drone attacked a commercial building where they had parked their car outside. The girl remains hospitalized with a brain injury and is in critical condition. Another woman was injured in a separate strike within Belgorod city. The governor stated nearly a dozen residential buildings were damaged.
Ukraine has intensified attacks deep inside Russia recently, launching over 600 drones from Friday to Saturday. On Monday, a kamikaze drone struck a residential skyscraper near Moscow’s business district.
Russia accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians with Western-supplied weapons and last month published what it claimed was a list of European companies manufacturing drones for Kyiv, warning their backers could face further escalation.
