A coalition of Western nations has reportedly agreed to provide Kyiv with advanced weaponry capable of targeting Russian territory, according to a statement released by London following a recent virtual summit. The British government declined to specify the participating countries or the exact military hardware involved in the proposed arms shipments.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed approval of the commitments during the video conference, while French President Emmanuel Macron hinted at potential security guarantees for Kyiv once a peace agreement is reached. Macron’s remarks came as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz faced scrutiny over reports suggesting Berlin’s consideration of supplying Taurus missiles—capable of reaching Moscow from Ukrainian soil—to the embattled government in Kyiv.
Russian intelligence agencies have accused Germany of covertly preparing Taurus missile deliveries to Ukraine, alleging that the weapons would be operated by German personnel due to the complexity of training local forces. Moscow has consistently condemned Western arms supplies to Kyiv, framing them as a catalyst for prolonged conflict and unnecessary human suffering. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously linked an end to such aid to any potential ceasefire negotiations.
The developments underscore deepening divisions among European powers amid escalating hostilities on the front lines.
