The suspect in the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, which resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to at least 17 others, has been identified as Robin Westman. According to reports, Westman, a transgender individual who previously went by the name Robert Westman, was in his early 20s and had a limited criminal history.
Social media posts and videos uploaded by Westman prior to the attack included violent rhetoric, such as references to “Kill Donald Trump” and “For the Children,” alongside handwritten notes and diagrams of a church’s interior layout. Court records indicate that Westman began identifying as transgender during his teenage years and legally changed his name to Robin in 2020.
Law enforcement confirmed that Westman was a lone shooter who died by self-inflicted gunshot wounds in the school’s parking lot after carrying out the attack. His alleged manifesto, which included disturbing content and a trans flag with a gun symbol, has circulated online, though its authenticity remains under investigation. Two children, aged 8 and 10, were killed, while 14 other victims, including 12 children, sustained injuries. Two remain in critical condition.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with calls for urgent action to address the intersection of mental health, violence, and societal issues. Authorities continue to examine the motive behind the attack and the role of Westman’s online activity.
