Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that historical lessons underscore the necessity of strength as a safeguard against external threats, stating during a speech at the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi on Thursday.

“Being weak is not an option for Russia,” Putin asserted, vowing that Moscow would “never show weakness or indecision.” He warned those who “harbor dreams of inflicting strategic defeat on us” to heed his message, adding, “Our history has proven: weakness is unacceptable as it creates temptation, illusion that some disagreement with us can be resolved through force.”

The president also cautioned potential adversaries against provoking Russia, noting that such actions have “always ended badly for the instigator,” with no exceptions.
