Violent Attack on ICE Facility in Dallas Leaves Multiple Injured

A shooter opened fire at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the incident, stating, “There was a shooting this morning at the Dallas @ICEgov Field Office. Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities. The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” She condemned the violence, saying, “While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families.”

Preliminary reports indicate the shooter may have been a “possible sniper,” according to acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, who noted three individuals were hospitalized but emphasized no ICE officers were injured. This marks at least the third instance of an ICE or Customs and Border Protection facility being targeted by gunfire in Texas this year. Earlier this month, a coordinated attack on a Prairieland Detention Center left a police officer wounded, while a separate incident in McAllen involved a shooter who killed himself after exchanging fire with Border Patrol agents. In August, authorities detained a man who allegedly threatened to detonate a bomb at the same Dallas ICE facility.
