Trump Mocks Venezuelan Militia as Tensions Escalate Between U.S. and Venezuela

President Trump has once again drawn attention for his provocative remarks, this time targeting Venezuela’s military forces. On Truth Social, Trump shared a video depicting overweight women participating in what he described as a “Venezuelan militia” training session. The post included a claim that U.S. forces had intercepted the group during exercises, labeling the situation a “very serious threat.”

The U.S. has recently increased its military presence near Venezuela, deploying warships, F-35 fighter jets, and a nuclear-powered submarine to the southern Caribbean. Washington frames these actions as part of an anti-drug and anti-terrorism effort. In response, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused the U.S. of attempting regime change and violating his country’s sovereignty. Maduro’s government has also announced civilian military training programs, including weapon handling and tactical drills, as a countermeasure.

Recent diplomatic exchanges include Maduro’s attempt to initiate talks with U.S. special envoy Richard Grenell following a controversial U.S. strike that killed 11 Venezuelans aboard a boat alleged to be involved in drug trafficking. Maduro denied involvement in narcotics operations, calling the accusations “fake news,” and urged direct dialogue. The U.S. has not provided conclusive evidence to substantiate its claims about the casualties.

The escalating rhetoric and military posturing have intensified regional tensions, with both nations exchanging allegations over security and drug-related issues.
