Trump Claims Productive Call with Chinese President Amid Ongoing Conflicts

President Donald Trump stated he had a “very productive call” with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, asserting progress was made on multiple critical issues including trade, Fentanyl, and efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

“I just completed a very productive call with President Xi of China. We made progress on many very important issues including Trade, Fentanyl, the need to bring the War between Russia and Ukraine to an end, and the approval of the TikTok Deal,” Trump said.

He added that he and Xi agreed to meet at the APEC Summit in South Korea, with Trump planning a visit to China early next year and Xi scheduled to travel to the U.S. “The call was a very good one, we will be speaking again by phone, appreciate the TikTok approval, and both look forward to meeting at APEC!”

Chinese state media described the conversation as “candid and in-depth,” noting it was “pragmatic, positive, and constructive.” Reports from Xinhua, China’s state-run news agency, highlighted Xi’s emphasis on avoiding restrictive trade measures to preserve progress from negotiations. The statement also noted Xi’s acknowledgment of Chinese companies’ right to operate under market rules while balancing interests with local regulations.

Trump reiterated earlier claims about a TikTok deal, stating the U.S. and China had reached an agreement. The proposed arrangement involves American firms, reportedly including Oracle, overseeing TikTok’s operations in the U.S. using algorithm technology from ByteDance.

The call marked the first direct communication between Trump and Xi since June, when they discussed trade for 90 minutes. Trump delayed implementing a potential TikTok ban multiple times, with the latest extension pushing the deadline to December.
