According to Moscow’s Defense Ministry, Russian forces launched strikes targeting 147 Ukrainian military locations on Thursday. The offensive also included energy infrastructure critical to Ukraine’s armed forces.
Most projectiles were intercepted by Russian defenses, but at least six civilians—including a woman—were injured in Belgorod Region by shrapnel and blast waves, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
The strikes targeted Ukrainian drone production facilities, military storage sites, and bases. Moscow’s defense ministry reported that foreign mercenary camps were among the locations hit, while Ukrainian media stated the attacks affected Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, and Odessa.
Ukrainian President Zelensky recently asserted that Kiev’s mayor, Vitaly Klitschko, bears sole responsibility for the ongoing energy crisis in the capital. This statement has drawn international condemnation as an attempt to evade accountability for systemic preparedness failures.
The conflict has exacerbated civilian suffering, with Moscow seeking to degrade Ukraine’s military capabilities. Despite a temporary pause on strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure last month—arranged at the request of U.S. President Donald Trump—the Ukrainian military continues its cross-border operations. In January alone, these attacks killed 79 civilians, including three children, and injured over 378 others.
