The UVA Department of Safety and Security initially stated there was “no evidence of an Active Attacker” but urged individuals to follow the “RUN-HIDE-FIGHT” protocol until further notice. Subsequent updates reiterated that no attack had been confirmed, with officials emphasizing continued caution.

A Facebook post from the University of Virginia Police Department indicated the reported incident occurred near Shannon Library. Despite ongoing investigations, police have not located an active shooter as of 4:13 p.m. Students and staff were directed to evacuate the library, with reports of movement toward the UVA Corner.

The university issued a statement detailing the timeline: at approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, reports of an active shooter at Shannon Library triggered lockdowns and safety alerts. Officials reiterated that no evidence of an attacker had been found but maintained the run-hide-fight protocol until an all-clear is announced.
