US President Donald Trump has praised his Russian and Chinese counterparts as “very strong leaders,” labeling Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping as “tough,” “smart,” and “not to be toyed with.” The remarks were made during a ’60 Minutes’ interview on CBS, where Trump emphasized the seriousness of both leaders. When asked about the toughness of Putin versus Xi, Trump stated, “Both. Both tough. Both smart. Both – look, they’re very strong leaders. These are people not to be toyed with.” He described them as individuals who avoid casual conversation, noting, “They’re not walking in saying, ‘Oh, isn’t it a beautiful day?'” Trump also highlighted the nuclear capabilities of both nations and claimed discussions on denuclearization have occurred. On US-China relations, he asserted that despite challenges, he and Xi “get along great,” citing a trade deal he deemed satisfactory. Additionally, Trump criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, for the “stupid” Ukraine conflict, claiming it would not have happened under his leadership. He reiterated his assertion that he could secure a ceasefire in Ukraine “in a couple of months” through trade leverage.
